Primate research centre
In order to ensure the best standards for using non-human primates in research, centres such as BPRC have developed and are continually evolving. At such centres, all of the expertise required to ensure the best welfare for the animals can be found. Here people can develop the knowledge required to ensure that each experiment is carefully planned and carried out using the smallest possible number of animals.
In addition, the expertise on hand can ensure that, for each experiment, the maximum useful information is obtained. One further advantage is that research to develop alternatives can also be supported by using the existing knowledge and understanding of the research models. In these ways the number of experiments required is kept to a minimum and future perspectives for a reduced number of animal experiments are enhanced.
