The Dutch Malaria Day is an annual meeting which takes place in Nijmegen, Leiden or Rijswijk. Last weeks meeting was at BPRC in Rijswijk on thursday November 28. Over fifty scientists from all over The Netherlands joined to present their recent work on malaria-related topics.
The program varied between presentations about diagnostics, host-parasite interaction, immunology, drug development and parasite biology, especially of special forms of the parasite, like “sleeping” parasites in the liver and gametocytes, transmitted to the mosquito.
The meeting was a succes, with lots of interesting discussions and social interaction, boosting the collaboration between groups working on malaria in the Netherlands.
We look forward to the next meeting in 2025!
