The Society for Immune polymorphism (SIP) will introduce the Jon van Rood lecture during the next symposium which will be held from October 7-10th 2024 in Sassenheim, the Netherlands. Professor dr. J. J. van Rood was an outstanding scientist and one of the pioneers that played a key role is the discovery and description of the HLA-system. The polymorphisms encoded by this genetic system control susceptibility and resistance to disease and matching for these markers during transplantation has a beneficial impact on graft-survival.
